PARADOX, a band from Penn Hills (an eastern suburb of Pittsburgh), PA, is made up of founding
members Jason Maffeo on Drums, Matt Haynes on lead guitar and vocals, Andrew Cotts on keyboards
and vocals, and Nick Bovo on Bass guitar. The group was formed about three years ago when Jason, Matt,
and Andrew discovered their very similar musical interests while working on a ninth grade biology project
together. Their early performances involved contemporary Christian rock music. They performed for
contemporary Church programs at Trinity Tower United Methodist Church and at Youth Retreats at Camp Jumonville near
Uniontown, PA. During the summer of 2005, they organized a fundraising concert which successfully raised over $1000
to benefit the homeless in the Pittsburgh area. They organized and performed at the event again
during the summer of 2006, this time raising over $1200 for the homeless. On July 7, 2006, they were the opening
band at Penn Hills "Unity in Community Days". They also performed ath the Pymatuning Lake Festival on August 6, 2006.
In December 2006, Paradox joined forces with members of Daryl Struck and other various muscians from Penn Hills High
School Band and Choir to perform a Christmas concert at Pittsburgh Mills Mall and a fundraising program at Trinity Tower.
Their performances consist of various types of rock like Classic, Fifties, Modern, and Christian. To date, they have completely written and performed three original songs and have ideas for many more with plans of recording a demo disk soon.
